About Me

Always a proponent of progressive technologies balanced by best practices, I have a thorough understanding of the principles behind accessible, widely compatible responsive web interfaces.

I have over six years of professional experience in the web application development industry as a software engineer and frontend developer; however, I have been programming for more than a decade, including competitive programming as an undergraduate.

I hold degrees in both Computer Science and Mathematics from College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri. Known as “Hard Work U”, College of the Ozarks allows students to pursue their education tuition-free through their innovative work-study program. Through this program, I worked in the College’s computer center all four years of my undergraduate studies. I started as a support technician and eventually became the Student Webmaster, an invitation-only position that few students have held in the College’s history.

After graduating, I continued working for College of the Ozarks as a part-time developer as well as Grand Crowne Resorts in Branson, Missouri as the lead software engineer before accepting my current position with Classy Llama Studios in Springfield, Missouri.

In February 2013, I became a Magento Certified Developer, and in May 2014, I presented the breakout session “Implementing Responsive Design on Magento”, the first authoritative session regarding the new Magento responsive theme, at the Imagine conference in Las Vegas.

Also at the Imagine conference, I become one of the very first Magento Certified Solution Specialists by taking and passing the certification the first day it was offered. In July 2014 I completed the Magento certification trio by completing the requirements for Magento Certified Front End Developer.

Most recently, at Zendcon 2014, I broadened the scope of my credentials by becoming a Zend Certified PHP Engineer.
